At Hand in Hand Chiropractic, we pride ourselves on helping our patients live healthier lifestyles. Here’s what our patients are saying:

What was the main reason you initially sought out care?

I’ve been coming to Hand in Hand now for close to a year. I started coming here because, for about eight months straight, I was getting pretty debilitating headaches—pains in the back of my head and pressure in my temples—and they would last all day long. From the morning, it was the first thing I felt; when I went to sleep, it was the last thing I felt. It was just a vicious cycle. I started seeing neurologists. I was really nervous that there was something wrong with my brain. I went for a CAT scan, an MRI, and a plethora of blood work, and everything came back fine. I was put on different medications at very high doses just to calm down the nerves in my brain, but it really wasn’t doing anything. I finally asked the neurologist what the headaches were stemming from, and he said, “They’re headaches.” I needed to find help elsewhere. I talked to a friend of mine who worked at the neurologist’s office, and she told me about Hand in Hand with Dr. Kara and how she helped her daughter deal with her migraine issue. I gave it a try the very next day. I got an appointment, and I just followed the process—three times a week, to two times a week, to now one. Almost a year in, I have no headaches. Very little, if ever, do I get them. I’ve been recommending Hand in Hand to whoever I can because it worked for me when a lot of other things didn’t. People saw it in my face. I looked relieved. I wasn’t miserable all the time anymore. With my experience, chiropractic definitely helped, and I live a better quality of life now because of it.

What advice would you give to someone considering chiropractic care for the first time?

You’ve got to come in with an open mind, because I think a lot of times chiropractic has a lot of negative connotation to it. People don’t understand that it’s not just getting a crack. It’s protecting your whole nervous system and really taking care of yourself. Your spine is connected to everything. Come in with an open mind and really trust the process.

Is there a specific moment or experience that stood out during your chiropractic journey?

Definitely the openness to recommendations, when people saw how much it was working for me. It was kind of like that aha moment. I heard it from other people: “You’re looking good. How are the headaches?” Once I was starting to get feedback from other people through my journey, that’s when I realized this thing might be for real.

How would you describe the atmosphere and environment?

I love coming in. I look forward to it every week. It’s not only an office where there are patients and a doctor. It’s like a community that’s built here. I love human interaction. Nowadays, we’re very focused on what’s in our phone, tablet, or computer. When you come in, it’s not only coming in for a visit at the doctor’s. You’re coming in to be part of a community and part of a friendship. Everyone’s here for the same reason. The passion that comes from the office is definitely felt, and you feel a lot better once you leave.

How would you describe the feeling after an adjustment?

Definitely relief. A lot of times I’ll come in, and if it’s early or there’s been a long day at work, I might not be in the best frame of mind. But when I come in and get the adjustment, I feel more energized. I feel happier, ready to restart the day. That’s something I look forward to as much as I can.

What’s one thing you wish someone told you prior to coming in?

Give it a try. Don’t listen to all the naysayers. Do your own research, do your own experiences. Come in and see if you like it, but definitely follow the plan and try to do something good for yourself.
